Amy Pitts, Guest Instructor

Amy Pitts is the Founder of Miles of Advocacy, a Special Needs Advocacy venture that supports parents in educational meetings, applying for Medicaid, and supporting them in a multitude of other ways. She is compassionate and believes in helping parents support their children, so they can reach their full potential. She is not only a voice for this community, but also a parent of an eleven year old child with special needs.

She holds a Bachelors of Art in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina. She worked in the Law Enforcement for several years but realized she had a huge heart for individuals with special needs. She then went back to pursue her Masters of Arts of Teaching in Special Education at the College of Charleston. She taught as a highly qualified teacher. Once transitioning to Georgia from South Carolina, she became the Parent Mentor for Paulding County School District. During this time, she also worked part-time at McKenna Farms Therapy Services. She then transitioned into a full-time position at McKenna as their first ever Client Resource Manager. Her passion was creating relationships and educating families.

Given this diverse background of experience and her passion for helping parents of Exceptional Children, Amy is well positioned to provide exemplary service to the Special Needs Community. She is married to her husband Linn, and they have two children, Lily and Jonah. Miles, her son’s service dog, can usually be found alongside Jonah during all of his adventures.
